The Energy of Ehwaz

The Myth and the Rune Behind Our Next Gong Puja

This week has carried a lot of beginnings. Noelia just turned the page on her own personal year, the Masterclass opens its doors in a matter of days, and if you've been in the studio at all lately, you've probably felt the room leaning forward. That same forward lean has a name in the old runic alphabets, and it's the energy behind our next overnight ceremony.

Here's where that rune comes from, what it actually builds in the people who work with it, and why it's shaping a night of continuous gong sound on November 14th.

The Myth Behind the Rune

Ehwaz means horse, and in Norse mythology, the horse it points to is Sleipnir, Odin's eight-legged steed. Sleipnir's own origin is one of the stranger tales in the old stories: born through a shapeshifting trick of Loki's, he arrived grey, eight-legged, and faster than anything else in the nine worlds. Odin rode him across realms other gods couldn't reach, over the sea, and even down to the underworld itself when the situation called for it.

What made Sleipnir remarkable wasn't just his speed. It was that he could be trusted completely, by a god who needed to move through genuinely difficult terrain and couldn't afford to second-guess what was carrying him.

The Partnership Ehwaz Points To

Elder Futhark runes carry meaning through the shape of the thing they picture, and Ehwaz pictures a rider and a horse moving as one unit. Upright, it points to steady, trustworthy forward motion, the kind built through partnership rather than force. Not a sudden leap, a sustained one.

That distinction matters. Ehwaz isn't the rune of ambition or willpower alone. It's the rune of what happens when two things, a rider and a horse, a person and their own intention, a community and the people who show up for it, actually trust each other enough to move together. Progress that holds up tends to come from exactly that kind of partnership, not from forcing a single will through on its own.

Why This Becomes a Night of Sound

A Gong Puja is already built around sustained, continuous sound carried through a full night, the kind of overnight format we've written about before. Pairing that format with Ehwaz's energy felt obvious once we sat with it: both are about trusting a process long enough to let it actually carry you somewhere.

On November 14th, that's exactly what we're building toward, a full night where the gongs do the steady, sustained work Ehwaz is named for, and you get to be the one riding it out.
