Weekend Residency at NAMO: How Our Tea Room Opened Its Doors
Over Labor Day weekend, NAMO hosted its first Weekend Residency over three days, with four sessions, and an exciting new chapter for the studio: the opening of our tea room. The weekend moved with real intention, a gentle, accessible entry into voice and expression at the start, deepening across the weekend, before the energy slowed into something quieter: tea, ceremony, and the tea room's first night.
Our guides for the weekend
Benny Oyama, creator of the Sacred Musician Incubator, led the throughline of the weekend, three sessions built around voice as a practice in itself, expression, embodiment, presence.
Tara Benmeleh, who facilitates tea ceremony and ritual under Espiritútara (past ceremonies held at The Standard Miami, Soho Beach House, the Miami Design District, and Pérez Art Museum Miami), joined for the weekend's centerpiece: the tea room's opening night.

Tea & Song Circle, Sunday evening with Tara and Benny, together, the weekend's turn inward, and the tea room's opening ceremony.

What's next
This November, Weekend Residency returns to NAMO. And this time, we're welcoming someone new into the studio: Marcos Jassan.
